Book Your 2017 Camping Excursion in the Forest Preserves

If you’ve never been camping in Cook County, make 2017 the year you experience the Forest Preserves of Cook County’s five campgrounds. Beginning January 3, all dates for 2017 camping are open for reservations.

From far north in Cook County at Northbrook’s Camp Dan Beard and Palatine’s Camp Reinberg, to the southern suburbs at South Holland’s Camp Shabbona Woods, visitors can immerse themselves in nature during a camping trip. Forest Preserves’ campgrounds offer weekend activities during the peak season, including Friday and Saturday evening programs and nighttime campfires, Saturday afternoon activities and hikes, and camping skills demonstrations. Each campground is also near other Forest Preserves’ attractions, providing campers numerous ways to explore the great outdoors.

Amenities at Forest Preserves’ campgrounds include gear for rent or purchase, restrooms and showers, and camp stores. Lodging options include tent campsites, RV and tent campsites with electricity, small cabins, large cabins, bunkhouses and group campsites. Check the specific campground’s webpage for additional details.

Reservations can be made online at fpdcc.com/camping-reservations, by phone at (855) YES-CAMP (937-2267), or in person at Forest Preserves General Headquarters from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on business days. Reservations can also be made by calling Camp Sullivan, Camp Bullfrog Lake or Camp Reinberg directly during office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or on weekends when there are campers. For campground contact information, visit fpdcc.com/camping.

For those looking for a winter camping getaway, residents and visitors can still enjoy camping at Camps Reinberg, Sullivan and Bullfrog Lake this season. There is limited availability of heated cabins at some campgrounds in addition to tent camping and RVs. Camp Dan Beard in Northbrook is open for winter camping to large groups only.
