The Forest Preserves of Cook County is looking for feedback on improvements suggested for key sites in the recently released Recreation Master Plan and the 2013–2017 Capital Improvement Plan.

Swallow Cliff proposed improvements include a new warming shelter building with restrooms, an observation tower, fitness stations, improved circulation/access throughout the site and other improvements.
Rolling Knolls is a recent acquisition for the Forest Preserves in the Northwest part of Cook County. Draft plans for Rolling Knolls include major renovation of the former clubhouse into a welcome center and lodge building, improving the walking trails, adding an archery range, adding a disc golf course and creating a nature play area. In addition to the active recreation, restoration work will be completed along Poplar Creek and improved circulation/access will be completed throughout the site.
Thatcher Woods/Trailside Museum
Plans for Thatcher Woods and the Trailside Museum include a new patio for the pavilion, recreation amenities for the picnic area, an improved parking lot for Trailside and improved circulation/access.
Dan Ryan Woods
Proposed improvements at the Dan Ryan Woods include an amphitheater adjacent to the renovated pavilion, a natural staircase for the sledding hills, trail improvements, an art installation at the southern end of the site, and improved circulation/access.
Plans for Miller Meadow include a new off-leash dog area, a disc golf course, walking trails and improved picnic groves.
Proposed improvements at Eggers Woods include include trail connections, a diversity garden, interpretive signage and improved circulation/access.
Proposed improvements at the Orland Grassland include a trail, interpretative stops and an improved parking lot.
The Chicago Portage National Historic Site’s proposed improvements include updated interpretative signage, trail improvements and a shelter.
