Painting by the Pond-Summer Edition

Paddle the Northwest

Family Campout

Camp Reinberg, 1801 N Quentin Rd, Palatine

These special overnight night events for families are a great intro into camping. Meals and camping gear and outdoor fun for a family of up to 6 is included in the $75 fee. Email experience.camping@cookcountyil.gov for more information and to reserve your spot, space is limited. Camperships are available. Check in is Friday, July 27, 5-7pm.

River Round-Up

Sunset Nature Photography Workshop

Yoga in the Woods

Sunday, July 1 • 10 – 11:15 am

Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center, 9800 Willow Springs Rd, Willow Springs

A 1.5-mile hike and yoga set to the sounds of nature will leave you in a relaxed and peaceful state. A yoga instructor will guide you through proper posture focusing on simple breathing, strength and flexibility. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat or beach towel. No previous experience necessary. Ages 16 & up. Free.

 

Nature Obstacle Course

Camping Leadership Immersion Course (CLIC) Training

Tuesday, July 10 – Wednesday, July 11

Camp Sullivan, 14630 Oak Park Ave, Oak Forest

Are you a leader of a school, community, scouting, or youth group? Interested in bringing your group camping but don’t know where to begin? The CLIC Training is an overnight course that provides skills such as camping equipment use and care, outdoor activities, teamwork and nature-based education. Upon completion, groups of up to 30 gain access to camping gear such as tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads and cookware for an overnight stays at Camp Sullivan. Camping 101 is a free, hands-on workshop series designed to teach basic camping skills to first time campers. Learn tent set-up, campfire building, dressing for camping, camping etiquette and more. Perfect for families and novice campers. Not appropriate for youth groups. Parents required to be present with children 16 and younger. No registration is required. Free.

Outdoor Block Party

Join us for nature play, pop-up adventure play, creative reuse, primitive skills, games, a hike, and more! We’ll be joined by partners from the Chicago Botanic Garden, REI and the Chicago Park District. We’ll also have a food truck on site. Co-hosted by the Youth Outdoor Ambassadors and Alumni.
