An Event to Remember and Raise Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls
Date & Time:
May 5th is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. To promote awareness, American Indian Health Service of Chicago, American Indian Center-Chicago, St. Kateri Center, Trickster Cultural Center and the Forest Preserves of Cook County are sponsoring an event at River Trail Nature Center that tells the story of the obstacles the native communities have faced historically in seeking justice for these women and their families. The REDress Project will begin its exhibit for the month of May.
Schedule for the day:
- 10 – 10:15 am – Elder Blessing of Event
- 10:15 – 11 am – Elder talking Circle
- 11 am – 12 pm – Speakers
- 12 – 1 pm – Drums & Dancers
- 1 – 2 pm – Speakers
- 2 – 3 pm – Drums & Dancers, Closing Prayer
All participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing.
