DESCRIPTION:Join us at Plum Creek for an evening spotting Common Nighthawks on their migration route to South America! A nighthawk watch is as laid back as bird watching gets: \n1. Sit in your lawn chair \n2. Look up! \nThese fast-flying insect eaters are in the nightjar family (aka goatsuckers in the Old World\, but that’s a story you’ll have to wait till the watch to hear) and will be way up in loose flocks. Like meteors\, they may come from any direction\, maybe because no matter where they breed in North America\, they meet up in the Mississippi Flyway to cross the Gulf of Mexico on their way south. \nThe cul-de-sac at the end of Plum Creek Meadow’s parking lot has a big\, gorgeous\, wide-open view of the sky. Bring your lawn chair and eagle eyes to help us spot any nighthawks meeting up in the midwest as they leave until next May.

The parking lots by Groves 13 & 14 will turn into a roller rink under the lights as a DJ fills the air with music. Helmets are required and there will be limited helmets available. Struggling Black Girl Magic Club will also be on hand to give out free skating equipment (while supplies last). Bicycles are welcome but they will be asked to remain outside of the skating loop. All ages and abilities are welcome to this free event! Drop-ins welcome\, but registration is encouraged.
