Create a Lasting Memory in the Forest Preserves

Dedicate a tree or bench and make a positive impact on the environment.

Those seeking an environmentally friendly way to honor a loved one, commemorate an event or even mark a new beginning, now have a new option in the Forest Preserves of Cook County. With a donation to the Forest Preserve Foundation, families and individuals have the opportunity to dedicate a tree or bench that can be cherished for years to come. These gifts go even further by supporting the Foundation’s efforts to inspire children through education and outdoor adventure programs in their local preserves.

Tree Dedications

More than 70 tree species are found throughout the forest preserves, providing countless benefits including habitat for wildlife, improved air and water quality, and beautiful landscapes.

The price for tree donations ranges from $500 to $850 and includes a native tree, planting and care for the first five years and an engraved leaf plaque placed on a recognition board at a nature center or the Forest Preserves general headquarters in River Forest. The tree will remain dedicated for the life of the plant.

Donors and their families are also invited to a Tree Dedication Ceremony, held each year on Arbor Day (the last Friday in April).

Bench Dedications

Benches add beauty to our trails, offering a place to rest, reflect and take in the surroundings.

A donation of $3,000 covers the cost of a bench, shipping, maintenance and installation. The installation date will be coordinated with the donor’s schedule. Each bench, made of recycled plastic and affixed with a plaque, will be installed at the donor’s choice of select locations in the Forest Preserves.

If desired, a notification letter can be sent to the honoree or the honoree’s family for either commemorative piece. For more information or to make a donation, visit the Forest Preserve Foundation website.
