Cross-country skiing is fast becoming the most popular winter pastime in the Forest Preserve District of Cook County.
Ice Fishing is permitted during the winter season at 22 designated lakes and sloughs throughout the County.
Nothing says winter fun like sledding and coasting. The Forest Preserve District offers 10 hills for sledding.
Ice skating is permitted on a number of Forest Preserve District lakes on a “skate at your own risk” basis.
