The Recreation Master Plan (2013) outlines a variety of safe and accessible outdoor recreational opportunities that build on the Forest Preserves’ long history of conservation and education. It calls for compatible recreational uses that are sensitive to natural resources and emphasize the importance of environmental awareness, open space advocacy, and stewardship.
Many of the activities identified will also provide support for the Camping Master Plan (2013).
Highlights include recommendations for improving trails, picnic groves and other traditional recreation areas, as well as adding additional sites and activities throughout the County that will engage new users, promote healthy lifestyles and connect people to nature.
