Welcome from the General Superintendent Arnold Randall

As General Superintendent of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Forest Preserve District’s online wilderness.  If you’ve never visited us online before, I want to encourage you to browse the site now and come back often, as changes, updates and new posts will be made regularly.   If you’ve already explored our site, you’re going to notice a completely different look and feel, which I think you will find more user-friendly and enjoyable.

This new site represents our effort to engage the public in furthering our mission of protecting and preserving more than 68,000 acres of open space, and to provide our visitors with an open and transparent look at their preserves.  I believe that one of our fundamental responsibilities is to use technology to help our visitors discover and learn about their forest preserves, both as a destination and as a taxpayer-supported unit of government.

I hope that each of you will come back, time and again, and see how your Forest Preserve District continues to grow and improve.  We offer the oldest and largest forest preserve system in the nation and we believe that as you continue to enjoy our environmental programming, preservation efforts and recreational opportunities, you will find it to be the best as well.

Sincerely,

Arnold Randall
General Superintendent
