Description:

Golden Tree Cookie Hunt (2 – 6pm)
10 Golden Tree Cookies will be placed by staff from 2 to 6pm. Find one while you are out celebrating Party for the Preserves with us and turn it in at the welcome tent for some Forest Preserves of Cook County swag.

 Trail Etiquette & Bicycle Ride (2:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm & 5:15pm)*
Connect with nature with a staff-led bicycle ride around the Skokie Lagoons.  Along the way, learn about trail etiquette and bicycle safety.  Bring your own bike and helmet. Guided rides every hour starting at 2:15pm, last ride is at 5:15. *Registration required: https://tinyurl.com/y4wy6ead

Self-Guided Nature Journaling (2 – 6pm)
Explore your creative side with the Forest Preserves as your muse. Stop by the information table to get your sketchbook and pencil.

Select Organized Litter Obliterators (SOLO)
Help clean up the preserves as a way to give back and celebrate Nation Public Lands Day. Pick up Litter Obliterator supplies at the follow locations at any of our nature centers (9am – 3pm); Bemis Woods-South, Kickapoo Woods and Forest Way Grove (2pm – 6pm).


About Party for the Preserves

Enjoy a number of self-guided activities and guided programs on September 26 from 9am to 9pm at various Forest Preserves locations to celebrate National Public Lands Day. See all Party for the Preserves events.

All participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing. The number of participants may be capped for activities to allow for physical distancing.
