Party for the Preserves

Guided Walks (11am & 11:30am)*
Explore the Tree Trail or Farm Pond Trail on this guided walk. *Registration required: call 708-839-6897
Self-Guided Scavenger Hunts (11am-3pm)
Please stop by the welcome tent to pick-up a scavenger hunt before your walk on the nature center trails.
Meet a Herptile (11am-12:30pm & 1:30-2:30)
Meet one of the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center’s resident reptile or amphibian
Winter Season Crop Giveaway (12-2pm)
Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension will hand out lettuce plants and information at the welcome table.
Pond Critters (1:30-2:30pm)
Stop by the Farm Pond tent and check out small aquatic animals that live below the surface of the water.
Bird of Prey Feeding (2:30-3pm)
Learn what is on the menu for our resident Red tailed hawk and Barred Owl to eat for the day.
Select Organized Litter Obliterators (SOLO)
Help clean up the preserves as a way to give back and celebrate Nation Public Lands Day. Pick up Litter Obliterator supplies at the follow locations at any of our nature centers (9am – 3pm); Bemis Woods-South, Kickapoo Woods and Forest Way Grove (2pm – 6pm).
