Walk & Talk Hikes are for the curious mind who want to know more about the Forest Preserves and natural areas. These hikes will be led at a slower pace with frequent stopping and interpretation.

Led by Illinois Extension Master Naturalist Len Piersialla, this informative hike will take participants on a historic look at the Forest Preserve’s contribution to the Manhattan Project and nuclear energy. We will take a 2-3 mile hike to two important sites within the preserves, and learn about the overall historic significance of the area. Along the way, we will see geologic evidence of glaciation in Cook County and look for spring ephemerals.

All participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing.
