For court-ordered community service NOT requiring supervision, you can earn service hours through our SOLO Litter Obliterators program. Follow the steps below to register: 

For non-court ordered community service (school, community group, church) you can earn service hours through our SOLO Litter Obliterators and Ecological Stewardship programs. Follow the steps below to register:

  1. Create a volunteer profile at
  2. Register for an approved program:
    SOLO (court ordered and non-court ordered)
    Ecological Stewardship (non-court ordered community service ONLY). All youth under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  3. Volunteer with your selected program
  4. Report your hours on your online profile. Need help? See the Logging Hours Primer.
  5. When you have completed and reported the number of hours required, email us at to ask for a report on Forest Preserves of Cook County letterhead. Please allow two business days to receive your report.
