Description:

Meet a Snake (9:30am)*
Meet one of Trailside’s resident snakes, and learn about some of the snake species that make the Forest Preserves their home. *Registration Required: Call 708-366-6530.

Family Toy Boat Craft (10:30am)*
Meet at Trailside’s pond, and learn about the importance of wetlands to wildlife. Afterwards, make your own simple toy boat to float in the pond. *Registration Required: Call 708-366-6530.

Meet an Owl (12:30pm)*
Meet one of Trailside’s resident owls, and learn about the adaptations that make them so special. *Registration Required: Call 708-366-6530.

Self-Guided Poetry Trail (9 am – 1pm)
Be inspired by reading poetry about nature on signs posted along our short, paved trail.

Select Organized Litter Obliterators (SOLO)
Help clean up the preserves as a way to give back and celebrate Nation Public Lands Day. Pick up Litter Obliterator supplies at the follow locations at any of our nature centers (9am – 3pm); Bemis Woods-South, Kickapoo Woods and Forest Way Grove (2pm – 6pm).


About Party for the Preserves

Enjoy a number of self-guided activities and guided programs on September 26 from 9am to 9pm at various Forest Preserves locations to celebrate National Public Lands Day. See all Party for the Preserves events.

All participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing. The number of participants may be capped for activities to allow for physical distancing.
